The network’s Los Angeles Symposium will take place on October 6th and 7th, 2018, at the University of Southern California, close to many of the major U.S. animation studios, and is hosted in partnership with the UCLA Animation Workshop, CalArts, and Women in Animation (WIA). Confirmed keynote speakers include Brenda Chapman (director, Brave and The Prince of Egypt) and Producer and Creative Director Brown Johnson (Sesame Workshop, Nickelodeon). In addition, the symposium will include paper presentations, panels, screenings, a career workshop, and networking opportunities. Topics to be addressed include diversity and inclusion; mentorship and advocacy in commercial and academic settings; sexual harassment and gender inequality; strategies for positive change; women in cutting-edge technologies and the history of women in animation.
