Through archival photographs, objects, books, and video from University Archives, The Creative Life of Douglass chronicles ten decades of dance, theater, music, visual arts, and literature produced by women at Douglass.

On March 28, 2018 there will be a panel discussion about the exhibit featuring:
Moderator: Joan Marter (Bd of Gov. Professor Emerita)
Panelists: Jeffery Friedman (Dir., MFA Dance Program), Geoffrey Hendricks (Faculty Emeritus, DC Art Dept), Susan Schwirk (DC ’71, Actress), Cheryl Wilson (DC’89, Director Emerita, Africana House)

Douglass Residential College (DRC), formerly Douglass College (DC), was founded in 1918 as the New Jersey College for Women (NJC). Throughout its history, DRC has been an intellectual community for undergraduate women that inspires its students to learn, lead, and live with conviction, creativity, and critical insight. DRC is located within Rutgers University, the only flagship public research university in the nation to offer students the opportunity to join a women’s residential college.

The exhibition will be on view in the Mary H. Dana Women Artists Series Galleries in the Mabel Smith Douglass Library, Rutgers University (8 Chapel Drive, New Brunswick, NJ 08901) from January 16 to  April 6, 2018. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9am – 10pm, and are subject to university libraries operating schedule. To accompany the exhibition, CWAH will publish a comprehensive online catalog with a short essay by the curators in 2018.
