Ahmondylla Best’s “Mother-In-Law’s Meal” – A Storytime Interactive Workshop
April 28, 2018 @ 10:45 am - 12:00 pm
| FreeParticipants in this Story Time workshop for children will help bring Ahmondylla Best’s original story and song, “Mother-in-Law’s Meal,” to life through creative play, story building and imagination.
Ahmondylla Best is a musician, author and performer. Her music draws on global ritual, Native American, African as well as personal and inherited American experience. Her latest book Mother-In-Law’s Meal is based on a story about a delicious, hearty Caribbean style stew.
Best describes “Mother-in-Law’s Meal” as follows: “Most stories about mothers- in-law, are negative, antagonistic and sarcastic. I wanted to present a positive, amusing story which focuses on an aspect of the ‘in law relationship.’ Food, in my latest book Mother-In Law’s Meal, is the vehicle upon which that relationship rides. The story provides an opportunity to examine, among other themes, one’s ideas surrounding the human condition of pre-judging.”
