The Fund for Women Artists
Is Pushing the Envelope!
Imagine a world full of art that looks
directly and deeply at women's lives - a world where you could
go to a movie, turn on your TV, or attend a play and know
that you would see strong female
characters grappling with real situations.
The Fund for Women Artists is leading a campaign to create
that world,
and we invite you to join us.
We have raised over $65,000 for the first round of our new Push the Envelope Please Awards, which will be given out in spring 2008.
We are going to use this money to make substantial cash awards
to women writers and directors in film and theatre who are
"Pushing the Envelope" by creating exceptional
films and plays that feature diverse and complex female characters.
This first year is just the beginning
- our long term goal is to build an organization capable of
raising and distributing a million
dollars a year to women artists. It will be
a lot of work, but we can do it with your help!

We're Going On the Road!
There is a huge amount of work to
be done, but we have an opportunity to create a truly
amazing organization. We
are building a team of smart, passionate
people to help. Our Executive
Director Martha
Richards is travelling around the country
to talk to women artists about their needs and to raise
more funds for the Push the Envelope Please Awards.
If you would like to bring
Martha to your community for a fundraising
party or other gathering where she could meet local
artists and potential supporters, please
write to us at info@WomenArts.org.
If you have other fundraising ideas or skills you
would like to offer, please write about
those as well.
If you decide to do a fundraising
party for us, we will work with you to make it a success.
These parties are a
fun and easy way to build your fundraising skills and help
a great cause. As
an extra incentive, we will provide a free hour-long fundraising
consultation about an arts project of your choice to any
person or group who organizes an event that raises $500
or more.

Thank You!
Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm
about our work. We are very proud that we have created a website
that now serves over 30,000
people a month. It's a unique online resource
designed by and for women, where visitors can learn about
more than 900 women artists
through our WomenArts Network online directory,
in addition to exploring hundreds of pages of fundraising
and advocacy information.
We treasure
the thank-you notes that we have received
from women all over the world, and
we hope you will be inspired
to help with the Push the Envelope
campaign. Please give as generously as you can. Future generations
of women artists will thank us for taking the time to build
this substantial resource for them.
The
Fund for Women Artists is a proud partner
with over 100 women's funds around the world in Fund>>Forward,
a bold initiative of the Women's Funding Network to
shape the future of our communities by investing in more programs for women and
girls. The Push the Envelope, Please
campaign was created with the help of a Women's Funding Network
Venture Fund grant. |
