**Alliance of Women Filmmakers Script Competition** (Formerly Reel Women Script Competition) – Seeks to advance the careers of women writers who help create more diverse and powerful roles for women. 5 finalists and 1 winner will be chosen in each category, Feature and Short. All finalists will receive a script critique and passes to the film festival held in March. Screenplays must be written by women in English, and accompanied by a title page with author contact information and a 50-100 word synopsis. Contact information should not appear anywhere else on script. Screenplay must be in 12 pt. Courier font, page-numbered, and bound with 2 brads on 3-hole punched paper. **The Athena Film Festival** (February 10-13, 2011, New York, NY) – New festival produced by Barnard College and Women In Hollywood to celebrate women who write, direct, act, produce, and work in the film industry. This year’s theme is “What makes a leader?” and the festival will examine the values women leaders share – vision, courage, resilience – and explore leadership across race, class, and culture. Seeking films from around the world that highlight the wide diversity of women’s leadership in both real life and the fictional world. Seeking Feature and Short Narratives and Documentaries that tell the stories of women leaders from all walks of life, and that highlight the talents of emerging artists, capturing a new generation’s take on what makes exemplary leaders. Before submitting your film, contact the festival and provide a short description of the film, including: type of film, running time, year of production, release history (if any), country of origin, whether the film has been submitted and/or accepted to any other festivals, and full contact information. One In Ten Screenplay Contest – Seeking screenplays (90-125 pages) in which at least one of the primary characters is LGBTQ and is portrayed positively. Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) Greenhouse Fund – Grants for industry training and professional development projects for public TV professionals and independent producers. Eligible projects may involve forums for new technologies, skill-building, showcasing of best practices, mentoring, training that increases mastery, strategies to improve competitiveness, conferences to bring new voices and points of view into the public TV system, or forums to address key issues in public broadcasting. Experimental Television Center / Presentation Funds – Offers partial support ($1,000 annual funding cap) to not-for-profit organizations in New York State for in-person presentations of electronic media and film by independent artists. Supports fees to presenting artists but not the rentals of works or equipment or any other expenses. Funding Opportunities

Pacific Pioneer Fund – Supports emerging documentary filmmakers who live and work in California, Oregon, and Washington with grants of $1,000-$10,000. Open to organizations and individuals with fiscal sponsorship. Filmmakers should have demonstrated a commitment to the craft of making documentaries with several years (but no more than 10) of practical film or video experience. Submit application (available on website), along with a DVD of up to 10 minutes of edited footage from the project for which support is sought. Alter-Cine Foundation Documentary Film Grants – $10,000 Canadian to a video- or filmmaker to assist in the production of documentary project. Grant aimed at young video- and filmmakers from Africa, Asia, or Latin America who want to direct a film in the language of their choice on the theme of rights and freedoms, including social and economic rights, women's rights, and the right to culture, art, and artistic creation. The Foundation particularly supports documentary films that dare to go against the tide, that take the side of the defenseless, and that question common assumptions by giving a voice to the voiceless, enriching our understanding of the world and enabling us to reflect on the need and possibility of changing the world from a perspective of peace, justice, equality and respect for differences. Pacific Life Foundation – Accepting grant proposals from nonprofit agencies seeking funds for programs and projects in the areas of health and human services, education, arts and culture, civic and community development, and the environment. Programs and projects should serve areas with large concentrations of Pacific Life employees, e.g., the greater Orange County, CA, or Omaha, NE, areas, usually including more than one city or community. Some CA statewide and national organizations will also receive support. General grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 for one year. National Endowment for the Humanities’ America’s Media Makers Grants (for projects beginning April 2011) - Grants between $40,000 - $75,000 to support radio, television, and digital projects that offer multiple formats and use new technology to deliver humanities content that explores stories, ideas, and beliefs that deepen our understanding of our lives and our world. Grants are available for development or production of projects that spark reflection upon culture, identity, and history in creative ways, and that use more than one format to convey ideas to the public. Applications may be submitted for any phase of a project. To ensure that the humanities ideas are well conceived, projects must use a team of scholars who represent major fields relevant to the subject matter and offer diverse perspectives and approaches. Preference will be given to projects that provide free access to the public. Open to U.S. nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, independent producers with nonprofit fiscal sponsorship, and state and local government agencies. Arab Fund for Arts and Culture Grants – Aims at stimulating and supporting artistic creativity and freedom of cultural expression in the Arab World. Open to individuals, NGOs, cultural and educational organizations, governmental bodies, and private companies in the fields of independent filmmaking, performing arts, visual arts, literature, research, capacity building and training, regional and cultural events, regional exchange, and multi-disciplinary projects. **Leeway Art and Change Grant** - Providing grants of up to $2,500 for women and trans people in the Delaware Valley region (Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties) who have financial need, so that they may create their art and social change project or opportunity. Open to any medium, including traditional and non-traditional as well as multimedia and experimental forms. Project should have an impact on the artist and a larger group, audience, or community. Applicants must have letter of support from a supporting or collaborating Change Partner (a person, organization, or business that is a part of the project in some way) and be 18+ years old. Full-time or matriculated students in an arts-degree program ineligible. NOTE: No e-mail or fax submissions. NEA Arts on Radio and Television Grants - Seeks to make the excellence and diversity of the arts widely available to the American public through nationally distributed television and radio programs. Support of a project may start on or after May 1, 2011. Grants of $10,000 - $200,000 are available to support the development, production, and national distribution of radio and television programs on the arts (any field). Priority will be given to artistically excellent programs that have the potential to reach a significant national audience, regardless of the size or geographic location of the applicant organization. Open to: state, county, and city governments; special district governments; independent school districts; public and private institutions of higher education; Native American tribal governments; nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status. Individuals MAY NOT apply, even with fiscal sponsorship. NOTE: Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov. **Kentucky Foundation for Women Artist Enrichment Grant Program** - Provides opportunities for feminist artists and arts organizations to enhance their abilities and skills to create art for progressive social change in Kentucky. Grants range from $1,000 - $7,500 (typical award is between $3,000 - $5,000). Applicants may request funds for a range of activities including: artistic development, artist residencies, the exploration of new areas or techniques, or to build a body of work. Open to individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations. Applicants must have resided in Kentucky at least one year prior to application. Guggenheim Fellowships – For advanced professionals in all fields, including the creative arts (in the field of performing arts, artists must perform their own original material to be eligible), to further the development of scholars and artists by assisting them to engage in research in any field of knowledge and creation in any of the arts, under the freest possible conditions. Grants are to individuals only (but are not available to students) and have been averaging $43,200 for U.S./Canadian fellowships, $34,285 for Latin American/Carribean fellowships – amounts are adjusted to the needs of the fellows, considering their resources and the purpose and scope of their plans. firstPix Grant Program - Seeks to foster the best and brightest new talent in digital video, film and animation, and to help promote that talent by providing supplemental post-production funds (up to $5,000) for selected projects. Grants may be used toward finishing funds or to fund marketing and promotion. Submitted films should have a positive humanitarian message. Feature Narrative and Documentary projects must be one hour or longer; animation must be ½ hour or longer. Submitted projects must be the first or second feature DV or film project of the applicant. Projected budget cannot exceed $250,000. Principal photography must have been completed after January 1, 2008; projects must be in post-production. CPB and PBS Diversity and Innovation Fund – Seeking proposals to provide the National Programming Service with a new, weekly primetime series that will expand viewership and usage to reach an adult audience on-air and online that reflects the diversity of the 40-64-year-old demographic.  They are specifically interested in attracting more racially and ethnically diverse viewers and web visitors within the target demographic through increased use of content created by a diverse group of producers and through the effective use of new and emerging technologies. They also seek to leverage the talent and creativity of executive producers and producers from minority and underserved communities, build capacity for the public media system from within those communities, and encourage innovation in the planning, production, and distribution of public media content. Proposed content should be conceived and budgeted with multiple-platform use (broadcast, VOD, internet, mobile, DVD, etc.) in mind from the outset. Proposals in any genres other than children’s, drama, or news and public affairs are encouraged. Applicants should submit proposals for a series of ten episodes that can be produced for $375,000 per hour (or less). ARTErra – Artistic Rural Residence (Lobão da Beira, Portugal) – Residencies (between 2 days and 6 months) in a rural village in Portugal for artists working in the following disciplines: music, performance/dance/theatre, visual and fine arts, writing, sculpture, and craft arts. Submit CV, portfolio, description of project to be undertaken during the residency, ideal dates and time for the residency, and any other pertinent information (dietary needs, number of people involved in project, technical requirements, etc.). Each residency is budgeted according to the number of people involved and other specific needs. Residency fees for one person for one week are approximately €120. NO FEE. Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (January-June, 2011, Nebraska City, NE) – Two, four, six, or eight-week residencies between July and December for visual artists, writers, composers, interdisciplinary artists, and arts and arts education scholars.  Some “transitional” residencies reserved for recent masters degree program graduates.  Residents receive free housing and a studio as well as a $100 per week stipend. Montana Artists Refuge (May-August, 2011, Basin, MT) – Residencies of an average of 1-3 months for all types of writers, visual artists, and musicians. Residency provides housing and studio; artist responsible for residency fee ($450-$550), deposit ($200), food, travel, and materials. Scholarships available to Montana American-Indian artists.  In addition, two one-month fully paid scholarships are available. Contact organization for more information on applying for scholarships. MacDowell Colony (Up to eight weeks between February 1 - May 31, 2011, Peterborough, New Hampshire) - Residencies of up to eight weeks (average stay is five weeks) providing artists with time and space to create lasting works of the imagination. Artists in the disciplines of Architecture, Film/Video Arts, Interdisciplinary Arts, Literature, Music Composition, Theatre, and Visual Arts encouraged to apply. Artists collaborating on a project must submit individual application forms and appropriate work samples, but may submit a joint description of the work they intend to do at the Colony. In addition, you may submit an example of a collaborative work (either completed or a work in progress); specify workspace needs (i.e. separate studios). Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (February-May, 2011, Amherst, VA) - Residencies for playwrights, screenwriters, performance artists, and video artists. Average stay is 4 weeks. Residents receive housing, all meals, and studios. Residents responsible for travel, materials, suggested contribution ($30 per day), and deposit ($50). Occasional full funding available. Jentel Artist Residency (January 15 – May 13, 2011, Banner, WY) – Residencies of an average of one month for visual artists and writers, including playwrights and screenwriters, who are 25 and older and live in the U.S. (citizenship not required). Organization provides housing, studio facilities, and a $400 stipend toward the cost of food and travel. Artists are responsible for travel, materials, and deposit ($100). Outreach opportunities are available, though not required. FEE: $20.
