**She-Story Media Art Exhibit at New Media Gallery** (Opening March 13, 2010, Zadar, Croatia) – Seeking new media works that address the question of how contemporary culture regards women today. Works should be by and/or about women, and should question the roles of women in society today. Works will be displayed in a large ex-cinema space in Zadar, and open to the public, with the goal of introducing new media art to a larger audience. Taller Portobelo Norte Summer Art Colony (July 4-25, 2010, Portobelo, Panama) – Residencies of 2 or 3 weeks for artists working in all media. Taller Portobelo focuses on furthering the critical discussion and examination of the art and cultures of the African Diaspora, especially as they are manifested in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to studio space within Taller Portobelo facilities, artists are invited to use other designated experimental spaces such as the colonial forts surrounding the town and the open plaza for artistic experimentation, improvisation, and production. Residency provides housing and studio space, tour of historic Portobelo, guided critiques, and 2 home-cooked traditional Caribbean meals per day. Elsewhere Collaborative (March-November, 2010, Greensboro, NC) – Residencies between 2-6 weeks for creative artists working in all media. The collaborative is a three-floor former thrift store turned into a living museum. Residents constantly compose and re-imagine the environment through projects that respond to layers of objects, artworks, collections, architecture, histories, and concepts within the building. Residents enter into an evolving collaborative artwork, inhabit production spaces, and establish living sites throughout the museum, using the resources from the 58-year-old inventory. Residency provides housing, workspace, and materials; artist responsible for program fee ($250), travel, and participation in food co-operative ($35/week). MacDowell Colony (Peterborough, New Hampshire) - Residencies of up to eight weeks (average stay is five weeks) providing artists with time and space to create lasting works of the imagination. Artists in the disciplines of Architecture, Film/Video Arts, Interdisciplinary Arts, Literature, Music Composition, Theatre, and Visual Arts encouraged to apply. Artists collaborating on a project must submit individual application forms and appropriate work samples, but may submit a joint description of the work they intend to do at the Colony. In addition, you may submit an example of a collaborative work (either completed or a work in progress); specify workspace needs (i.e. separate studios). New York Foundation for the Arts Affordable Workspace Program (New York, NY) – Open to artists and arts organizations who have been directly affected by the recession – through loss of office space, employment, etc. Activity must be arts, literary, or culture-related; artists and organizations working in all genres are welcome to apply. Workspaces at NYFA are private and equipped with high-speed wireless internet access. Meeting space is available by appointment. Workspace also includes a free printing quota of 200 pages per month (discounted printing fee for larger printing projects), discounted rate for copying, fully equipped kitchen (including coffee and tea!), and individual phone service with additional fee. Applicants must complete an application form (available on website) and include a CV and 2 professional references.
