Personal Statement: I thrive on breaking diction and syntax patterns into atomic bits - I emphasize the seedy underbelly, the oft neglected components - I unfasten them and relegate them into something else.

A self-taught oil painter, I depict the images I cannot render in verse or in prose. I create clitoral/literal landscapes in abstraction—sometimes it is an image of an unexpected flower bed at Alcatraz, a window in illuminated aluminum. Often times, my poems form the soundtracks.

Short Bio
Painter, filmmaker, and spoken word performance artist, Bonnie MacAllister "reveals the structure of fragments, decoding illicit meaning in elicitly abstract poses." West Philadelphia resident MacAllister has been published on three continents and has performed at over sixty venues including the Wilma Theatre and the Adrienne Theatre.

A five-time slam champion, she has delivered her deconstructed breath verse at over forty venues in several countries. Her work has appeared most recently in the UK’s nth position, the Feminist Journal, Brisbane, Australia’s Paper Tiger Media, Small Spiral Notebook, Magnaphone, www.hingeonline.com, www.venuszine.com, www.deaddrunkdublin.com, Amherst Press, Seventeen Magazine, and The Doylestown Patriot.

An independent film maker and oil painter, she is the co-President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art. She has most recently exhibited at the AIR Gallery in New York City, the District of Columbia Arts Center, and the Highwire Gallery in Philadelphia. Films she has worked on have been visible at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Musée de la Mode in Paris, France.
