Current Work Reena Walker has recently returned from living in Mexico where she produced and performed in live concerts. While there she also served as a documentary judge for The Expresion en Corto International Short Film Festival. She is completing her first feature-length screenplay, has developed treatments for documentaries and reality series and is in pre-production for her next documentary feature. She is currenty seeking representation.
Reena is also developing a program called Sisterarts. Sisterarts is a free, non-profit training program which will offer training in professional video to economically disadvantaged African-American women. Short Bio Reena Walker worked for River Films as Associate Producer on HBO/Cinemax Reel Life's Questioning Faith: Confessions of a Seminarian directed by Sundance winner Macky Alston and produced by Oscar nominee Leonard Cox. She also produced the River Films web site at www.riverfilms.net. Walker, documentary filmmaker and activist, also worked with Alston as Lead Researcher on the Emmy nominated, Family Name, which, after a highly successful theatrical run, aired nationally on PBS.
Walker has extensive experience in production, post-production, and research on numerous independent documentaries, short films, industrials, commercials, and multimedia projects and annually serves as a News and Documentary Emmy judge. She wrote, directed, and produced the 60-minute documentary, Sisterspeak: Voices from Behind the Wall. Her television work includes CBS Productions' The 20th Century with Mike Wallace, Lifetime Television's The Place, and WCBS-TV News in New York where she worked in the Troubleshooter Unit with Roseanne Colletti.
Walker has taught in-studio and field production at Brooklyn Community Access Television. A two-time recipient of the Helena Rubinstein Scholarship, Walker is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television, where she was named a Dean's Scholar and is a recipient of a number of academic awards.
