Mission Statement: Artistic Director Cynthia White founded IndependentActor to create a support structure for the ongoing development and proliferation of talent and new works generated and produced by independent artists. Through classes, seminars and personal coaching she teaches actors to take charge of their careers, create their own opportunities and realize their artistic goals.

Continuing this mission, IndependentActor Productions fosters, promotes and produces high caliber, independent stage, screen and television productions, which respect artistic freedom and expression. With the inception of IA in January of 1999, a commitment was made to projects that accurately reflect our populace; where each artist is considered as an individual; where ethnic, cultural and physical difference is understood and appreciated as part of one's individuality; where the stories that are being told reflect our communities; and where our individual humanity and forms of expression can be celebrated.

Current Work
Recent projects include the new play, "KIng Christina" written by Martha Kearns, a new book of monologues created out of the IA Master Class, Off-Broadway hit, Loose Knit, generously sponsored by Bacardi, Godiva, Crunch Fitness, Liz Claiborne and West Elm, a division of Williams-Sonoma. IA classes, including the signature Take Charge Course for actors, have been recognized with financial and technical support from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Seedco, American Express and The Women’s Venture Fund.
History
IndependentActor offers a range of services for professional actors and performing artists. What separates us from the competition is our results oriented mentoring approach. We bridge the gap between training programs and working as an industry professional and creating work. IA has what no other school offers:
  • All classes and coaching sessions are taught by a successful, respected working Actor, Director and Producer with Off-Broadway and Network casting experience.


  • Previous training is optimized and incorporated into a personalized technique and castable types are defined and delineated so that the actor is ready to work.


  • Marketing and business skills are taught so that performers master not only their talent but also the business of the entertainment industry.


  • Multifaceted actors are encouraged and coached in writing, directing and producing new works on a commercial level.
