Mission Statement: Foundation CURE (CURE = GIRLS) is a feminist activist group that works for positive social changes through educational, arts, culture and research programs.

Long-term Projects

1. Reviving the women’s movement in BiH through research, training, publications, and informing the public about processes relevant for positive social changes, especially for advancing the position of women in the society.

2. Launching a multimedia Center for Women and Girls (first BiH resources and education center for feminism and women human rights)

Current Work
* Education: organizing workshops for youth in BiH and the region for topics: gender/sex, violence, information communication technologies, activism, self-defense, health, leadership and communication skills, performances, and other.

* Street actions and protests

* Public reactions to violent and gender insensitive politics, media, advertisements, judicial rulings and cases of gender based discrimination

* Three larger CURE annual actions:

1. PitchWise – the First Festival of Women Engaged Arts (2006, 2007). Programs include academic, film, music, and exhibitions, workshops and performances programs. PitchWise is rooted in the idea that the transformative power of art inspires and empowers and individual to be a positive change for herself or himself and her/his environment. http://pitchwise.fondacijacure.org/bs/index.php

2. 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is a global Campaign initiated by the Center for Women Global Leadership (NY, USA). Every year (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), CURE create a dynamic set of activities that correspond with all relevant sectors in the society. The campaign runs from November 25th to December 10th. http://www.cwgl.rutgers.edu/16days/home.html

3. Vday – Global movement to end violence against girls and women. Founded by Eve Ensler, author of the Vagina Monologues. Each year, CURE organizes VDay on state (2005, 2006) or regional level (2007, 2008).
History
CURE Foundation is a non-profit group that has been advocating for gender equality across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region since 2004. Through organizing affirmative actions, we celebrate the strength and power of women, and work to empower individuals so they can be initiators of change in BiH and the world.

Membership at CURE is free of charge, and we welcome all persons who want to partake in CURE actions, who want to support, cooperate and/or gather around the CURE ideas and processes. Through membership, voluntarism, CURE mailing list and numerous actions, the CURE community gathers hundreds of persons from BiH and the world.
