Current Work Several series of paintings and works on paper are in progress concurrently.
CROTCHES
32 x 26 inches, oil on canvas, 2000-
Each painting here begins with my use of a linear “Y” form as the base motif representing the female crotch. Symbolic and metaphorical expressions and representations follow, speaking about this region of the female body and – through this “symbol” – about women.
VOCABULARY
28 x 24 inches, oil on canvas, 2000 –
These paintings are essentially about words developing and imposing themselves through the painting’s evolution.
DAILY BREAD
works on French “bread paper”, 2001 –
French bread papers are customarily used in bakeries in France. Since 2001, I have recuperated these papers which are wrapped around my baguette after its daily purchase. This vestige becomes my surface.
PLACES
51 x 38 inches, oil on canvas, 2003/2006 –
These paintings simmer in greens and grays, a palette inspired by Matisse's “The Piano Lesson” and also by where I have lived. Research into a personal and inventive type of landscape painting, one of the interior and exterior.
