Personal Statement: Though my work includes fiction and nonfiction, it tends to be autobiographical in nature, both serious and humorous in tone, and literary in genre. I’m drawn to subjects that capture real and compelling personal values; and I’m interested in the nature of relationships, issues of moral courage and resiliency, and the necessity of humor in the human condition.

Sometimes I feel as if I have spent the first half of my life living it, and the second half writing about it (perhaps rewriting the first half is more correct). Writing is often the most honest, difficult profession — and the most privileged.

Current Work
I have recently finished an historical novel about a young girl growing up in the interwar years in Belorussia. I have high hopes in finding the appropriate publisher.

Sample of my photography can be found on my website: www.andreasimon.net
