Current Work "New Songs for Peace" was created in response to the UN's proclamation that this decade be the decade for the Culture of Peace and Non-violence. Honey was asked to collect songs in response to this proclamation. She travels far and wide to encourage people to talk about peace, define what it means, create friendships, write a song or a poem or make a painting in the name of peace.
Honey also teaches vocal improvisation and how the voice is used in the healing arts, eg. for self-expression, creativity, and a sense of well-being. Passion Among the Cacti Press recently published Honey's book and CD called "Sal Mineo, My Friend," about the wonderful friendship and mentoring the late actor Sal Mineo offered her. |
Short Bio Honey Novick lives in Toronto, Canada. The Creative Vocalization Studio was started in 1976 in response to people wanting to learn more about "scat singing," which Honey defines as creative vocalization using the voice as an instrument.
Honey has taught at the University of Toronto, York U. Guelph, U. Simon Fraser, Waterloo U. Beverly Hills High, and at the New England Folk Festival. She has sung in Israel, Japan, Cuba, the USA, and all across Canada.
