Current Work JoSelle currently works at the Actors Theatre of Louisville as a literary/dramaturgy intern for the 2004-2005 theatre season.
Her first poetry collection 10,000 Several Doors will be published in July 2005 by Cat's Eye Publishing. She is also editing Secret Fires, a collection of lesbian-themed fairy tales for Torquere Press (May 2006). Her poetry will soon be seen in the pages of Prime Books' Jabberwocky, Star*Line and the online magazine Simply Haiku.
Novels in progress include Absolute, a tale of a scientist's obsession with a haunting dream and the loss of his daughter and Fire in the Throat, the story of a young magician trapped in his memory. She is also working on Bruising the Pomegranate and The Life and Death of the Woman, her two new poetry collections. Planned for 2005 are the completion of two additional collections, The Anatomy Lesson and a book of devotional poetry.

Short Bio JoSelle Vanderhooft was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on August 5th, 1980 and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2004 with Honors Baccalaureate degrees in Theatre Studies and English, and a minor in history.
She began writing at age ten and her first play, Saint Iago, was performed by Manhattan’s Young Playwrights, Inc. in 1999. Since that time, her plays have been read and produced by The Blank Theatre’s Eighth Annual Young Playwrights Festival, New Dramatists, NYSF’s Powerhouse Apprentice Program, The University of Utah Theatre Department, ABCD Productions, and Babcock Performing Readers.
Additionally, JoSelle has served as a literary intern for New Dramatists, The Women’s Project, and Manhattan’s Looking Glass Theatre. She also served as a stage manager for the 2002 Sundance Theatre Lab and a dramaturg for Pioneer Theatre Company’s Olympic Play Series. Her sound designs have featured in several university and local theatre productions.
When not writing for the stage, JoSelle works as a full-time journalist for several independent newspapers.
She currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky.
