Personal Statement: Jaye Austin Williams is an artist and scholar whose work focuses primarily on those on the fringes, in the shadows and margins of life.

She is interested in framing work socio-politically, and in writing/directing plays and stories that require the audiences/witnesses not only to consider but to rigorously and actively recognize people whom they might otherwise dismiss.

Current Work
Jaye is currently a Doctoral student in the Joint PhD program in Drama at the University of California Irvine and San Diego.
Short Bio
Jaye's work as a director, playwright and actor has been seen on and off Broadway and regionally and been developed and/or presented at the Sundance Theatre Lab, the Public Theatre and the Breadloaf School of English (in residence with Tony Kushner), among others. Her current doctoral studies emphasize Critical and Feminist Theory and African American Studies.
