Current Work For several years, I have been working almost exclusively with acrylic and found wood to create an ongoing series of paintings. Acrylic dries quickly, which allows me to spontaneously layer my thoughts and feelings until I find a sense of balance in the image. |
Short Bio Deva completed her MA in art therapy at UIC, and her BFA in fine arts/illustration at the College of Visual Arts, St. Paul, MN. She was awarded the Virginia Rahja Scholarship in painting, as well as a program assistantship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

She has received three curators choice awards from the Around the Coyote Arts Organization, Critics Choice recognition in the Chicago Reader, and was a featured artist for Chicago Artists’ Month 2003, an event sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs. Her work has been commissioned for several publications, including the Twin Cities’ City Pages and the City of Chicago’s National Womens Month Calendar.
