Personal Statement: Painting images on wood that is weathered or flawed in some way has become a major focus of my work. There is beauty in accepting and working with the imperfections in the wood - transforming them through the images. Giving new life to discarded objects is a very gratifying and symbolic process.

Combining the warm and imperfect qualities of wood with radiant yet somber figures creates an unusual duality. The mood becomes both peaceful and haunting, perfect yet flawed. These perceptions, which are never truly in opposition to one another, are very much a part of inner experience.

What is most important to me is creating work that is meaningful. I work intuitively, and this process allows me to be in the moment. While this is freeing, it also involves an experience of constant change and uncertainty. I search for the sense of balance that grows out of this familiar struggle.
