Personal Statement: I am a American Muslim of Palestinian heritage who works in mosaic. My work focuses on themes of peace and my spirituality. I explore the nature of art as a vehicle for interaction and communication. I am also interested in furthering dialogue between Muslims and Jews to further peaceful coexistance in Palestine. I am very interested in themes of cultural resistance against the violence of the Israeli government that afflicts Palestinians , ultimately affecting the peace of all. A peaceful resolution will happen when we can recognize that every human being has a right to live safely and securely within Palestine and Israel. This will only come about when we sit down together and establish what we share in common and build on that to form bonds and understanding.

I was classically trained in Italy, but I use contemporary, Islamic and Byzantine styles in my mosaics.

Current Work
I am working on a Jewish/Muslim Mosaic Project that institutes the Andalusian Model of tolerance and peace between Muslims and Jews. Our goal is to create a public art installation mosaic that breaks the stereotype that Jewish/Muslim relationships are inherently bound in conflict.

I am also completing a public installation mosaic of an ancient mariner's map of the Hudson River for the City of Peekskill to be installed in the Riverfront Green.
