Pandora Productions Call for New GLBTQ Plays (2013-2014 Season, Louisville, KY) – Seeking plays that reveal and define the ever-evolving GLBTQ community and that illustrate the commonality of all people while investigating the diversity of human nature. Three finalists will be given staged readings during the 2012-2013 season; audience will vote for a winner, which will be awarded a full production during the 2013-2014 season. Plays must be original, full-length works with GLBTQ people as the primary characters. Plays should have a minimum of 3 actors and minimal set requirements. No previous productions or publications. Bloomington Playwrights Project + Indiana University New Musical Project  (February, 2011) – BPP will be collaborating on a new small-scale musical with Indiana University. **Rivendell Theatre Ensemble** (Chicago, IL) – Committed to cultivating the talents of women theatre artists and to seeking out innovative plays that explore the unique female experience in an intimate, salon environment. You may submit your play through a literary agent or accompanied by a letter of recommendation by a theater professional (i.e. an artistic director or literary manager at a professional theater). They will host a new monthly reading series, “Words and Wine” on the last Sunday of every month. Seeking short plays or cuttings from full-length plays that can be presented in a 10-15 minutes format. Where Eagles Dare Short Play Lab (New York, NY) – Seeking one-act plays (45-60 minutes) on any subject for production during December 2009 and January 2010. The playwright/producer must produce the play (casting, rehearsing, etc.), including the provision of a board operator. Where Eagles Dare will provide theatre, box office services, and some promotion. WED keeps the door. Shoestring Radio Theatre (San Francisco, CA) - Seeking original radio plays in any genre. No stage plays or screenplays. Plays should be either 25-28 minutes, or 50-56 minutes (longer plays will be aired in 2 parts). Short plays (10 minutes and shorter) are also accepted. Scripts do not have to follow a specific format, but it should be easy to distinguish the dialogue from the sound effects and music. Southern Writers' Project of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Montgomery, AL) - Seeking original full-length scripts and adaptations that have not been professionally produced. Plays must meet one or more of the following criteria: the playwright is Southern; the script is set in the South, or deals specifically with Southern issues, characters, or themes; the script deals with African-American themes or characters. Clubbed Thumb (New York, NY) - Accepts submissions of plays that are funny, strange, and provocative, with a running time of an hour to an hour and a half with no intermission. Plays must be unproduced in New York City and must have a reasonable representation of women, both in quantity and quality of roles. They prefer medium sized ensemble casts; at least 3 characters. The director of the piece will be chosen by mutual consent of playwright and Clubbed Thumb. They are committed to play development, and therefore produce only plays that are actively being worked on with the expectation that the rehearsal process will prove beneficial to the playwright's writing process. They prefer modern topics and characters, and are not currently interested in historical plays. There are no length restrictions or requirements. Orange Hanky Productions (New York, NY) - Seeking original gay plays that raise the bar on gay theatre by tackling the issues facing gay people in a truthful, raw, and fresh way. Plays should also be able to resonate with everyone, regardless of sexuality. Submitted plays should be between 1 and 2 hours long, and must contain significant LGBT content. Plays may have had prior readings and workshops, but must never have had a production in New York. Shelterbelt Theatre (Omaha, NE) - Produces 4 original productions each season, from collections of short one-acts to full-length plays and musicals. They accept submissions of new scripts of all lengths (from 15 minutes to over 2 hours) and subject matter, and are especially interested in works by local and regional writers. They work with local writers to set up reading panels and workshops for plays in development. Plays are usually selected 4-6 months before performance date. Ars Nova's Out Loud Reading Series (New York, NY) - Bi-weekly play reading series dedicated to supporting the development of new work by emerging playwrights. Send a synopsis and 10-page sample of your play, along with a playwriting resume and a cover letter detailing any previous development the play has undergone. Writers are also encouraged to invite Ars Nova staff to readings or productions of their work. Full scripts will not be considered unless requested based on the 10-page sample. Jewish Ensemble Theatre's Festival of New Plays (West Bloomfield, MI) - Committed to new plays and their development, JET puts on a festival of 4 new plays each season. The plays are performed as staged readings with professional actors and directors on 2 consecutive evenings, followed by discussion with the audience; some plays subsequently receive full productions. Playwrights whose work is presented receive a small honorarium. Seeking full-length, unproduced plays (though they will consider one-acts); no musicals. Eight actors or fewer preferred. Urban Stages Emerging Playwright Award - Urban Stages' mission is to develop and produce new, multi-cultural works that deal with social issues.
