Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation

Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation (LVF) provides one-time grants to individuals working in the fine arts (excluding photography, film, and video) and in the literary arts, including playwriting. Also supports certain unaffiliated scholarly and/or research projects. National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts

The foundation aims to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development, and to raise the appreciation for and support of the arts in American society.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Director/Choreographer Observerships

Offers young, early-career directors and choreographers the opportunity to observe the work of master directors and choreographers as they create new productions on Broadway, off-Broadway and at leading regional theatres, primarily in New York, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Observers often have access to the entire rehearsal process, from first rehearsal to opening night, and receive stipends of $250-$1,000.

ArtsLink Projects provide support to US artists, curators, presenters, and arts organizations undertaking projects in Central Europe, Russia and Eurasia. U.S./Japan Creative Artists' Program

A partnership of the NEA and the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC), allows American artists to live and work in Japan for five months. Architects, choreographers, composers, creative writers, designers, media artists, playwrights, visual artists and solo theater artists who work with original material (including puppeteers, storytellers and performance artists) are encouraged to apply.  Artists who create original work in a multidisciplinary form are also eligible.

Allen Lee Hughes Fellowship Program, Arena Stage, Washington, DC

National Alliance for Musical Theatre Producer-Writer Initiative

Builds relationships between writers of musical theater and producers working on the development of new musicals throughout the U.S. The Producer-Writer Initiative grant is awarded to NAMT voting members, who apply on behalf of their organization and a writing team. Each theater will receive $3,000 to help fund a writing team's residency for a minimum of seven days, supporting housing and travel costs and an artist stipend for the writing team.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts

Emergency Grants Program

Provides speedy funding for visual and performing artists who have unanticipated, sudden opportunities to present their work to the public, or who incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects underway and close to completion.  The grants are intended to support the creation of innovative and experimental work, and are meant to assist individuals and groups when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding.  In 2007, grants ranged in amount from $200 to $2,000; the average grant was $1,000.  Work must be of a contemporary, avant-garde nature.
