Welcome to Film and Video Funding News, Volume #36 This free bi-monthly newsletter is a service provided by The Fund for Women Artists, a community of artists and allies dedicated to celebrating and supporting art that tells the truth about women's lives. **CineWomen NY Screens** (New York, NY) – CWNY’s monthly screening series at the Two Boots Pioneer Theatre in Manhattan is always looking for high-quality short films that have been directed, written, shot, or edited by women. Currently seeking the following two topics in the fiction and nonfiction genres: 1) Love: couple love, family love, children love, parent love – all you need is love! – but no x-rated, please; and 2) Strong character women/girls: stories about a woman or women, or a young girl or girls, who overcome obstacles; stories that deal with important women’s issues. A Season of Love Documentary Film Series – Opportunity for Southern African filmmakers. Young Lion Films seeks proposals for series of personal narrative documentary films, where love becomes a metaphor for dealing with reconciliation and forgiveness in the context of the gross human rights violations by/of South Africans beyond their borders from 1961–1989.  Filmmakers should find people and communities that were affected by or participated in the creation of these historical events and who are willing to confront their painful past. Stories will be encouraged to cross regional borders and be strongly reflective of the South African influence on the lives of the characters. Series is a living celebration of people sharing their diverse social, cultural, economic, and political history ties as a Southern African region. **The Baltimore Women’s Film Festival** (October 2007, Baltimore, MD) – Open to all types of cinema in which women played a vital role in creation and completion, as well as to films with outstanding performances by an actress or actresses. Submissions of films with topics that deal with women’s issues, regardless of gender of filmmaker(s), also welcome. Films must have been completed after 2003. Competitive categories: Documentary, Feature, Short Comedy, Short Drama, Animation. Festival will also have showcase highlighting films by Baltimore and Washington, DC, area filmmakers.
